IC Engagement Services

Synergy's IC Engagement Services (Agency of Record) work in conjunction with Synergy's Compliance Services to provide clients with ongoing management throughout the life-cycle of the IC engagement including contract management, pre-screening services and payment processing. This Service provides increased protection against contractor misclassification issues while reducing the administrative costs of dealing directly with multiple independent contractors.

In addition, Synergy offers a variety of services to independent contractors (ICs) based on contractor needs to support them for a single engagement or on a more permanent basis. We evaluate each IC situation to determine the best fit solution for each contractor. Once properly vetted, we determine the "best fit" solution for contractors based on some of the following criteria:

  • Are they transitional or permanent ICs?
  • Do they have their own business structure or do they wish to form their own business?
  • Do they have the appropriate business insurances?
  • Do they need health and welfare benefits?
  • Do they require tax and billing support?
  • Do they desire additional administrative support including legal, IT and human resources?

IC Engagement Service Details

Background checks / Pre-screening

As a part of the standard onboarding process, Synergy performs background checks on behalf of its clients and contractors including any additional pre-screening that may be required.

Negotiate IC Agreement

Synergy facilitates negotiation of the IC Agreement between the client and the independent contractor.

Insurance verification

Synergy verifies the appropriate insurances are held by the IC and ensures they do not expire at any time during the project.

Onboarding file

Synergy manages the onboarding process including all standard forms and client specific forms as needed prior to beginning the project.

Backup file verification

Synergy collects and reviews all back-up information required to verify IC status including a complete review of the Statement of Work (SOW).

Payment processing

Synergy processes all payments to the IC, provides and serves as the single point of contact regarding potential billing disputes.
