Service Offers
Synergy Services offers several flexible options to meet your company’s specific
contractor payroll needs including:
Managed W-2 Service (Employer of Record)
A full service contractor payroll option for companies who want Synergy to become the legal W-2
Employer of Record for contract employees. As the employer of record, Synergy automatically
deducts the necessary taxes from the contractor’s paycheck including Social Security, Medicare,
Federal, State and local taxes. In addition, Synergy covers the contractor with Worker’s Comp
and Unemployment Insurances.
1099 Service (Agency of Record)
A flow through service where Synergy becomes the Agency of Record, thereby not deducting the
necessary taxes from the contractor’s paycheck. This Service provides the employer increased
protection against contractor misclassification issues while reducing the administrative costs
of dealing directly with multiple independent contractors.
Note: Independent Contractor status must be certified by Synergy Services
Synergy Compliance Service
A web based service designed to evaluate your company’s new and existing 1099 contractors to
determine worker misclassification and quantify risk exposure to the firm.

Payroll Administration
Payroll processing: Synergy performs weekly payroll processing for
contract workers.
Payroll taxes and deductions: automatic tax deductions by work state,
unemployment and workers compensation benefits deductions.
Unemployment and workers compensation: Synergy manages claims and assumes liabilities for unemployment and
workers compensation.
Timesheet management: Synergy manages the timesheet process to
ensure timesheets are in on time in order to process payroll.
Billing and collectibles: Synergy manages the
billing and collections process on behalf of its customers including manual
or electronic format.
Direct deposit: as a part of the enrollment process Synergy supports
and encourages direct deposit of payments to workers.
Float/ payroll funding: Synergy maintains payroll float of payroll funds
between the time the contractor receives payment and the time which the bills
are paid by the customer.
Audits and reporting: Synergy performs all audits and reporting on behalf
of our customers.
Year end reconciliation: Synergy manages the year end reconciliation of
W-2 forms and inquiries.
Background checks: as a part of the standard enrollment process, Synergy
performs background checks and social security verifications on behalf of its
customers. In addition, Synergy will perform additional pre-employment testing
such as drug tests and employment/degree verification.
Claims management: Synergy handles all unemployment claims and liabilities
as well as workers compensation.

Affordable health insurance through Starbridge Select. Contractors may select from
one of two low cost health alternatives for themselves and their family. The
Synergy medical plan through Starbridge is a limited benefit medical plan which
includes the following types of healthcare benefits:

Pre-tax premiums
Eligibility: The contractor must be working 20 or more hours per week.
Waiting Period: Contractors may join the program during open enrollment
periods or the first month following their first day of employment.
Dental/Vision
Synergy also offers a cost effective dental and vision program through Starbridge Select.
Dental: The Starbridge Dental Plan reimburses each insured person for expenses incurred
for the 45 most common preventive and basic dental procedures. After each insured person
meets and annual deductible, the plan pays for up to the maximum covered charge for each
included procedure. Additional discounts are available for dentists who are in the CAREINGTON network.
Vision: Contractors enrolled in the Starbridge Select Dental Plan also receive a
membership in the Vision One discount network.
Life Insurance
Synergy offers a life insurance plan to our employees. The premiums for this life insurance
plan are taken out of your paycheck for your convenience. You can receive a guaranteed policy
with coverage at a competitive rate. The Guardian Life Insurance plan is portable as well;
this means if you leave the company, you can continue to participate in the life insurance plan
at just a slightly higher premium.
Voluntary Insurance Programs
Synergy offers voluntary insurance programs through Aflac including Accident Expense,
Premier Cancer, Personal Sickness and Personal Disability Plans. Aflac insurance
policies pay cash benefits directly to the employee for such expenses as expenses
outside of major medical coverage, travel-related expenses, everyday living expenses
and lost income.
401(k) Retirement Plan
The 401(k) retirement option is available to all Synergy contractors, enabling them
to reduce taxable income and save for retirement. By participating in the Transamerica
Retirement Plan, Synergy contractors can select from numerous diversified investment
options to invest in their future.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account
Synergy offers a flexible spending account for dependent care expenses using pre-tax
dollars to reduce overall taxable income. Participants must work a minimum of 20 hours
per week, with eligibility at the beginning of the month following the first day of employment.
Direct Deposit for W-2 Employees
Direct Deposit Services allows Synergy to transfer funds directly in to the contractors
bank account without the delay of sending paychecks through regular mail.
